Ensure your Passion Project’s Survival
There are many success and not so successful stories about people who took the risk of opening businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of which were passion projects, which at first were a great thing for the entrepreneurs, but became a big problem as soon as the business scaled.
There are many things to consider in the survival of a business in its early days. For passion projects, here are some things to consider to ensure its survival:
Don’t depend on it immediately
In the pursuit of your passion project, it’s important to exercise prudence and not rush headlong into it. Those who transitioned during the many uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic often did so out of necessity, with little or even nothing to lose. Rather than making it your sole source of income, consider a gradual transition from your day job to save yourself from unnecessary problems you might face.
Treat it as a side gig… For now
Starting your passion project at full throttle can lead to burnout and lose the joy out of what you love. By initially treating it as a side gig, you alleviate pressure and maintain the fun aspect of turning your passion into a source of income. This allows you to cherish the journey of doing something that you love rather than merely working for a paycheck.
Don’t lose your love for your passion
Preserving your affection for your passion is paramount. All your hard work could be in vain if you lose the love and enthusiasm for what you do. Maintain a steady pace, keep learning and growing within your craft, and hone your skills consistently. This ensures your passion project’s survival and its continued ability to bring you fulfillment.
It’s everyone’s dream to do their passion for a living, however, not everyone gets the chance to do it. Now that you’re on the path to what many can only dream of, don’t take it for granted, but don’t overdo it as well. Remember to take it easy on yourself and your passion project, but always have goals in mind. Aim that one of these days, you won’t have to work a single day in your life anymore–why? Because you’re doing the very thing that you love the most. (GFB)
