Enhanced PhilJobNet will Further Shorten Job Search of Job Applicants, DOLE Says
The Department of Labor and Employment has launched the enhanced PhilJobNet, the government’s official job search, job matching, and labor market information portal, thus raising the bar of its Internet-based job and applicant matching system that fast tracks jobseekers’ search for jobs, and employers’ hunt for qualified workers.
“We aim to further shorten the job search of job seekers through the enhanced PhilJobNet,” Labor Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz said.
“We have addressed the existing technical issues and limitation of the PhilJobNet system, and the Bureau of Local Employment and the Servicio Filipino Inc. Group (SFI) have partnered to develop the new platform of the PhilJobNet website,” said Baldoz.
During the launch, Baldoz, together with SFI officials, unveiled the PhilJobNet’s new and enhanced features and functions.
She said jobseekers will be delighted at the PJN which could be accessed on a 24/7 basis, for free. The PJN has a mobile phone-friendly web application system more responsive to optimal viewing, offers interactivity for easy reading and navigation, and has been improved with more efficient features and functionalities.
It has a separate log-in for employers, jobseekers, and the web administrator; features jobs for specific clients, such as women, high school graduate, differently-abled workers, and displaced workers; incorporates a career information page; and integrates a Talent Map tool.
“We have also made the PJN available for public browsing at the DOLE job fair yesterday,” said Baldoz, who also explained that the system’s improved version, which aligns its job vacancy description with the Philippine Qualification Framework (PQF) descriptors, make it more exciting. The PQF is a national policy that describes the levels of educational qualifications and sets the standards for qualifications outcomes.
“Additionally, the PJN has a trendy and responsive web design and has links with the social media,” she added.
Jobseekers can use their social networking accounts, such as Facebook and LinkedIn, to access the enhanced PhilJobNet, which now has advanced search functionalities that filter vacancies by location, industry, company name, salary, and type of employment. Users can also search for special jobs, such as online/home-based, government, overseas, and internship. They are also given the option to select printable resume formats.
Another enhanced feature of the system is that the applicants can provide feedback on the results of their job interviews, and upload certificates and licenses, as well as receive email alerts on job matches, updates and announcements.
On the other hand, participating employers are provided by the PJN with separate login/sign-up page, an applicant tracking and monitoring tool, and a synchronized calendar for employers and jobseekers.
They can also post job vacancies, search and view applicants’ profile, and invite job applicants for interview. They are also provided with free company branding (use of logo, header banner, and company profile), as well as the opportunity to be featured in the Top Hiring Companies, and use the job fair module. A corporate premium service is also available to employers who would want advanced interactive features in the PJN. This option offers SMS and email blast, resume search, and positioning of job postings in search result.
The PJN has five types of users—the anonymous, the job applicant, the employer, the Public Employment Service Office, and the DOLE Regional Office.
The Anonymous user is one who is not currently logged in, but can search and view available jobs; view job fair schedule, partner’s page, and directory; browse news articles, top hiring companies, and special job categories; visit career information page; and download publication materials.
Job Applicant users are those who have an account with the PJN and are currently logged in. They can manage and update their personal profile, select printable resume format (e.g. classic, stylish, and elegant); search and view job matches; pre-register in job fair event; and receive notice of job matches and schedule of job interview.
The Employer can upload documentary requirements, company logo and banner; create and manage job vacancy postings; invite job applicants to job interview; report job placement; tag/classify job applicants as Hired-on-the-Spot, Nearly-Hired, and Qualified, as part of job fair monitoring module; get system notification on accreditation status, online job applicants, and PESO referral; and access to report and monitoring module.
The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) user can encode and update the job applicant’s profile and employment related information; search and view company registration status (i.e. accredited, denied, revoke, and cancelled); refer applicants online and/or print referral letter; and generate statistical and alpha list report.
The DOLE Regional or Field Office can refer applicants online and/or print referral letter, approve, deny, revoke, cancel, and reactivate accreditation of company; post and update job fair schedule, and generate statistical report of the system.
Director Tutay said the BLE has developed a PhilJobNet’s User’s Guide to assist clients in navigating the new platform. It will also install soon a dedicated hotline to be operated and monitored by a customer service representative provided by the SFI Group who will attend to PhilJobNet queries.
The PhilJobNet generated from January 1, 2016 to March 4, 2016 a total of 155,280 job vacancies from various industries in the country.
The PJN can be accessed via www.philjobnet.ph and in the Job Search Kiosks located in PESO, DOLE central office, bureau, attached agencies, regional and field offices, Commission on Higher Education, and selected schools in the country. (DOLE)
