Elementary to High School Classes Suspended Anew in Pangasinan
Lingayen, Pangasinan (PNA) — Classes from elementary to high school in both public and private schools in Pangasinan remain suspended Friday (July 10) for the fourth day based on a public advisory released by the provincial capitol on order of Gov. Amado Espino Jr.
In the city of Dagupan, which is not under the political jurisdiction of Pangasinan, Acting Mayor Brian Lim also declared the suspension of classes in pre-school, elementary and high school in Dagupan Friday.
The capitol’s public advisory issued by the Provincial Information Office (PIO) at 11 p.m. on Thursday (July 9) states “As water level of rivers are rising and flooding is imminent in some areas of the province, I hereby declare the cancellation of classes from pre-school, elementary to high school in both public and private institutions. . .”
Since Tuesday (July 7) classes from pre-school to high school were suspended in Pangasinan, resuming only on July 8 (Wednesday) when Storm Egay exited in the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
In suspending classes anew, Gov. Espino noted the weather forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) that Pangasinan will still experience moderate to heavy rains today due to southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon “Falcon.”
Meanwhile, in his executive order, Lim said the cancellation of classes, as recommended by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) is a preemptive action on the part of the city government to prevent potential loss of life, limbs and property.
