Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has set up checkpoints to enforce the gun ban during the election period starting January 9 to June 8 as CCPO assures that efforts in maintaining peace and order will be intensified especially this coming election this year.

Comelec checkpoints will be done twice a day during the election period and prevent any traffic jams during the rush hours, the CCPO will assign “profilers” to randomly check motorcycles in the checkpoints.

The police assigned in the said checkpoints are ordered to strictly follow checkpoint protocols and greet motorists with utmost courtesy during checkpoints.

Under the Comelec Resolution No. 10728, no individual is allowed to carry firearms in public places unless they have secured permission from the Comelec’s committee on the ban on firearms and security concerns. (ASC)
