The City Government of Tagum and the City Tourism Office added another feather on its cap as it won another international award for its commitment to quality leadership, technology and innovation in the continuous search for excellence.

The Century International Quality Era Award is the latest addition to the long list of awards for the City of Tagum, and was awarded by BID One Group in fitting ceremonies held at Geneva, Switzerland last April 15, 2018.

Mayor Allan L. Rellon shared that the City of Tagum was selected from a list of nominees whose performance is analyzed against the results from different sources, from both traditional and digital media, as well as specialized and public sources such as chambers of commerce, embassies and universities.

“Throughout the years, we developed our green parks, launched cultural festivals, invested in our human capital and capitalized on good governance. As it turned out, these initiatives have magnified the image of my humble city as a premiere destination for tourism and investment not only in the Philippines, but also in the ASEAN Region. Through tourism, we have made local businesses to thrive and employment is generated for our people,” Mayor Rellon said during his speech in Geneva.

“Much of this is grounded in our organization’s commitment to total quality. As a city that values victory, we are doing our best to make big things happen, especially to our visitors and investors. Our local government will be all-out in assisting potential investors, ranging from industry selection to legislated tax holidays.”

He added that this award “shall further our cause in utilizing the unorthodox formula of making tourism and investment as a key for sustainable urban development.”

The International Committee for the selection of candidates considers the selection criteria for the organization as a candidate for the Century International Quality Era Award to be backed by at least five of the following qualities: customer satisfaction, innovation, research and development, continuing education, quality, environment, excellence, total quality management implementation, permanent growth, marketing and leadership and management.

The local government was selected by a committee made up of company leaders from more than 90 countries who meet annually in Frankfurt, Paris, New York, London, and Geneva.

City Tourism Officer Vicerjean Casiano is elated by this international recognition for his office, which for two years in a row is pivotal for the LGU Tagum to be recognized as the Best Tourism Oriented LGU in the Philippines by the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines and the Department of Tourism.
