Duterte to Osmeña: You Don’t Own Cebu
President Rodrigo R. Duterte slammed Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña for his arrogance on his speech in the 49th Mandaue City charter day celebration.
President Duterte said in his speech that he wanted to go to Cebu and talk to Mayor Osmeña and that he will slap the Cebu City Mayor if they meet. Duterte also did not like the accusations of Osmeña that he is a drug protector. Duterte arranged a meeting with Osmeña but did not get a response.
“Ingon pa ka protector ko ng shabu. Ingnan taka magkita ta. Di gani ta magkasinabot, tamparuson taka atubangan sa daghang tawo (You accused me of being a shabu protector. I tell you, let’s meet, and we don’t come into terms, I will slap you in front of many people),” President Duterte said.
Duterte also mentioned that Osmeña is very arrogant and he doesn’t own Cebu just because he is a grandson of a former President.
“Ayaw nami hilabti kay kaya namo ni (Don’t meddle in our affairs, we can handle our own), who are you to say that, as if you own Cebu—by what right? Just because you were a former president’s son or grandson, and you think manulti ka mura kag si kinsa (Just because you were a former president’s son or grandson, you think you talk as if you are someone),” Duterte said.
Duterte also made fun of Cebu City Mayor Osmeña’s using catheters.
The President said that Mayor Osmeña’s real sickness is hubris. “Kahibaw ka unsa’y sakit gyud nimo Tom? (You know what’s your real sickness, Tom?), prangkahan tika daan karon (I’ll be frank with you now), hubris. Proud ba, hambugero (Hubris, proud, arrogant)… Kana ganing tawo nga di masayop. Tan-aw niya di siya masayop (a person that thinks he cannot be wrong), he’s incapable of being wrong, he’s always right. Unya manulti murag tag-iya, tang*na (Talks likes he owns Cebu City, son-of-a-wh*re), Cebu City is not your property it has never been your territory. You are there because you have a name,” he said.
