Dumanjug Mayor to Heed Suspension Order
Dumanjug Mayor Nelson Garcia said Monday he will heed to the 60-day suspension order issued by Governor Hilario Davide III.
“I will abide by the governor’s decision. But of course, I will seek a temporary restraining order for its implementation,” said Garcia.
Garcia on Monday morning visited Davide in his office to personally say to the latter of his decision. Davide, who issued the suspension order last week, said he was happy that “Garcia, albeit is from another camp, will step down and give way to Vice Mayor Efren Gica.”
Davide, however, said Gica, although he assumes as acting town mayor, will not use Garcia’s office.
The Provincial Board last week had approved a resolution requesting the governor to place Garcia under 60-day preventive suspension while the complaint filed by Gica against him is being investigated.
Gica alleged that Garcia abused his power when he hired a council secretary when it was the vice mayor’s function under the Local Government Code.
