Dumaguete City Unveils New #DumaGeTmE Tourism Brand
Dumaguete City has unveiled its new tourism show window and brand name at the Rizal Boulevard Sea Deck with the signage #DumaGeTmE.
Mayor Felipe Antonio “Ipe” Remollo led the guests, Department of Tourism Director Shahlimar Tamano and Presidential Adviser on Investments Atty. Antonio Cablitas, in unveiling the newest icon of the city.
Dumagueteños including foreign tourists joined the crowd in embracing the city’s newest icon.
According to Mayor Remollo, the signage was the first of the many developments that will be introduced in the boulevard.
He also stated in his opening remarks that they have plans for the boulevard which include another signage near Burgos Street and a boardwalk that would start from the Rizal Boulevard area up to Barangay Tinago.
The city government also plans to make a seawall to protect Tinago from coastal flooding and erosion and many other projects along the boulevard.
“Barangays, we have you in the master plan in Dumaguete, so don’t worry,” Mayor Remollo added.
Mayor Remollo paid tribute to all the offices involved in the successful launching of the icon particularly City Tourism Officer Jacqueline Antonio and her staff and the City Engineer’s Office. (jct/PIA7-Negros Oriental with reports from Aria Isiderio, SU Intern)
