DTI Secretary Lauds Timely Implementation of EO for “Ber” Months
Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Alfredo Pascual said that the timely execution of Executive Order (EO) No. 41 will alleviate prices for the Christmas season.
Last September 25, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. signed EO 41, which orders local government units (LGUs) to discontinue the collection of pass-through fees for all motor vehicles transporting goods and merchandise on national roads. These pass-through fees are charges added during the transport of goods, which raises the price of products sold in the market.
Pascual said that the EO will help alleviate the effects of inflation on the prices of commodities, especially since the Christmas season is coming.
He notes that truckers and manufacturers have welcomed this policy. They see it as a positive move because it helps reduce the input and output costs associated with their products.
EO No. 41 is in line with the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028. (ASC)
