DTI Opens Christmas Fairs to Support Filipino MSMEs
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has launched the DTI-Bagong Pilipinas Christmas Village Fairs to highlight the talents of Filipino micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). These fairs aim to promote local craftsmanship while encouraging sustainable practices.
The fairs are set in three key locations, starting with the first event at One Ayala, Makati City, from November 18 to 22. During the opening on November 19, DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque shared that the fairs are an important way to help MSMEs recover from challenges like recent calamities. She said, “The Christmas Village Fair is a way to help MSMEs increase their earnings and bounce back. This is part of our effort to build a stronger and more prosperous Philippines.”
The Christmas Village Fairs feature a wide variety of locally made products, including fashion items, home decor, and food. Visitors can shop for personalized gifts while supporting local businesses. The fairs also showcase eco-friendly practices and offer a lively holiday atmosphere with festive decorations and Filipino delicacies.
After the first fair at One Ayala, the event moved to SM Megamall’s Megatrade Halls 2-3 in Mandaluyong City from November 30 to December 4. The final fair will be held at the Filipino Village in Ayala Malls Manila Bay from December 1 to 22.
Adding to the holiday cheer, the DTI-Creative Industries Development Office will host the National Fiesta Haraya, a celebration of Filipino creativity. This festival will feature art, media, fashion, and technology, along with regional exhibits from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Activities include performances, cultural showcases, and interactive experiences.
DTI-BMDPO Director Marievic Bonoan encourages everyone to visit the fairs and festival. “This is a wonderful way to celebrate a Filipino Christmas while supporting local businesses,” she said. (ASC)
