The DTI has launched the “We Are A Creative Nation” campaign to position the Philippines as a top creative hub in Asia by 2030. Acting Secretary Ma. Christina A. Roque made the announcement on August 23.

This initiative is tied to the upcoming Philippine Creative Industries Month (PCIM) in September 2024. The event, themed “#WeAreACreativeNation,” will emphasize the importance of creativity and innovation in the Philippines’ socio-cultural and economic growth.

Various creative outputs, such as music, visual arts, literature, design, fashion, and film, will be showcased throughout the month-long celebration.

Roque highlighted the campaign’s objectives, stating, “The goal of PCIM 2024 is to promote Philippine creative products and services on a global scale. This supports our strategic vision of positioning the Philippines as Asia’s premier creative hub by 2030.”

The DTI encourages participation from creative professionals, industry associations, government agencies, local government units, educational institutions, and corporations.

They are invited to register their September events as part of the PCIM celebration using the hashtag #WeAreACreativeNation.

During the media launch, Roque was joined by DTI Undersecretary Rafaelita M. Aldaba and other key figures, including Congressman Christopher De Venecia, author of the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act (PCIDA), Department of Information and Communications Technology Usec. Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, National Economic and Development Authority Usec. Rosemarie G. Edillon, Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines Director-General Rowel S. Barba, Department of Education Dir. Marilyn B. Siao, and Department of Tourism Dir. Paulo Benito S. Tugbang.

The DTI will officially launch the PCIM celebration on September 3, 2024, at Ayala Malls TriNoma.
