DSWD Supports the No Smoking Campaign of DOH
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII and the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) 7 inspected the nearby area for the “No Smoking policy” campaign.
“We want to make sure that there are no cigarette vendors or sellers within the 100 meters of the office premises,” said Engr. Emmanuel M. Edles, Head of the General Services Division (GDS) of DSWD-7.
This is in line with President Duterte’s Executive Order no. 26, Providing for the Establishment of Smoke-Free Environments in Public and Enclosed Places.
“We want to impart knowledge on the ill effects of tobacco to the society,” said Dr. Terence Anthony J. Bermejo, BOQ Chief of staff. He said it is part of the healthy lifestyle campaign of the government through the Department of Health (DOH).
The DSWD FO-7 has long been implementing the “No Smoking Policy Campaign”. Due to this effort the department was awarded with the Red Orchid Award of the Department of Health (DOH) in 2018.
Red Orchid Award is the highest award given by the DOH on the anti-smoking advocacy of local government units, government hospitals and offices.
