DSWD Proposes P104.2-Billion Budget for 2016
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) presented on Tuesday before the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee its proposed budget for 2016.
DSWD Secretary Corazon J. Soliman told Rep. Maria Carmen Zamora (1st District-Compostela Valley), committee vice chairman, that they are proposing a total of PhP104.2 billion budget for next year.
The proposed budget is lower by 3.76 percent equivalent to PhP4,061,287 compared to the current year (2015) outlay of PhP108.88 billion.
According to Secretary Soliman’s presentation, PhP4,824,817 of the total amount will be for personal services (PS) or salaries of employees; PhP97,349,520 for maintenance operations and other expenditures (MOOE); PhP1,060,374 for capital outlay (CO) and PhP781,732 for financial expenses (FE) or bank charges.
The amount of PhP103,680,514 will be utilized in the continuous implementation of DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Modified Conditional Cash Transfer (MCCT) Program, Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP), Social Pensions for Indigent Seniors, Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-National Community Driven Development Program (KC-NCDDP), Comprehensive Program for Homeless Street Families and Indigenous Peoples, and others.
DSWD’s attached agencies such as the Council for the Welfare of the Children (CWC), Inter-Country Adoption Board (ICAB), National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA), National Youth Commission (NYC) and Juvenile Justice Welfare Council (JJWC) have also been included in the proposed allocations.
