DSWD Helps Beneficiaries Acquire Skills to Gain Employment
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) has been helping the poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged households and individuals acquire necessary assets to engage in and maintain thriving livelihood that helps improve their socio-economic conditions.
To do this, the DSWD 7 has implemented various skills training in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) accredited service providers that have the expertise to provide it which are responsive to the needed services resulting from the procurement conducted by the agency.
The participants to these trainings are given allowances which vary depending on the type of training.
For example, the on-site training on beauty care services wherein the training is conducted right in the municipality where the participants live, the DSWD 7 gives each participant Php 100.00 daily to defray food and transportation expenses.
Meanwhile, a trainee on other types of training such as Skills Training on Driving NCII, Skills Training on Hilot Wellness massage NC II, Skills Training on Haircut and Hair Coloring (leading to NCII), Skills Training on Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II, Skills Training on Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, Skills Training on Carpentry NC II, Skills Training on Dressmaking NC II, and Skills Training on Computer System Services NC II gets Php 100.00 for food allowance and Php 100.00 for transportation allowance.
Since these skills trainings are procured, the service provider is the one giving the allowance to the trainees based on the contract.
