DSWD 7 Upgrades Facilities, Offices to Provide Convenient, Safe Place for Clients and Workers
Compelled by the brand of providing the Maagap at Mapagkalingang Serbisyo to the public and providing for the welfare of its workforce, the DSWD Field Office has addressed the need to upgrade its centers and offices.
The year 2017 saw the constructions and improvements of DSWD 7 offices, centers and other facilities.
According to Engr. Emmanuel Edles, Administrative Office V and head of the General Services Unit, with a total of P92.8 million, DSWD 7 has been able to construct and repair its offices and centers.
“As a dynamic organization, DSWD VII’s workforce has continuously increased. The management saw the importance to construct another building here at the compound to provide the workers an environment conducive to working,” said DSWD 7 Regional Director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre.
Constructed in between the main building and the Area Center for Social Welfare and Development (ACSWD) building is a 4-storey structure that will soon be occupied to decongest the main building.
Another building constructed this year is the Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Office – Bohol.
“We used to hold office at the old Civil Service Commission building owned by the provincial government of Bohol. We are looking forward to occupying the new building early 2018,” said Papiasa Bustrillos, Social Welfare Officer IV and SWAD team leader of Bohol.
The realization of the SWAD-Bohol Office building and warehouse was made possible with the support from the Bohol provincial Government which provided the 530 square-meter lot and the local government of Tagbilaran City which lend the old city hall to SWAD-Bohol as temporary office while the construction of the SWAD office and warehouse is ongoing.
The provincial government of Bohol did not hesitate to have a usufruct agreement with DSWD 7 on the use of the lot for the SWAD office and warehouse because the governor see the importance of SWAD’s existence in the province.
“The provincial government is happy about this development because the workers will have a conducive workplace and most of all, it will provide a convenient place for the clients to be served by the SWAD-Bohol office. Thank you, because you are always there when we need you,” said Bohol Governor Edgar Chatto.
Addressing the immediate and pressing concerns of all residents through the provision of alternative family care arrangements with the objective of reuniting them with their families and communities as socially functioning individuals, is the ultimate goal of the residential care services.
“While clients are at the center, we see to it that they are provided with appropriate services and their safety is ensured. That is why constructions and repairs are done in our Home for Girls, RRCY, Regional Haven and AVRC,” shared Director Macapobre.
“With the upgrading of our centers and facilities, we look forward to providing the needed care and support for abused women and girls, abandoned and neglected children and children in conflict with the law.
In 2017, DSWD 7 forged a Memorandum of Agreement with the International Justice Mission to formally establish the HerSpace Assessment and Processing Center for the survivors of Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC) and victims of trafficking in persons. The DSWD provides the lot while IJM gives 100% funding support for the establishment of HerSpace.
