DSWD-7 Leads Celebration of 24th National Family Week
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-7) led the kick-off activity of the 24th National Family Week Celebration on September 24, 2016 at the Children’s Playground, Plaza Independencia, Cebu City.
The celebration will end on September 30, 2016, according to DSWD-7s Regional Information Officer Leah Quitana.
Quintana added the event is a yearly celebration in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 60 signed on September 28, 1992 and Executive Order No. 241 dated June 9, 1995.
The week-long celebration slated on September 24 to 30 carries the theme “Matatag na Pamilya, Maunlad na Bukas”, which gives recognition to the contribution of a resilient Filipino family in achieving a better future, said the social welfare and development officer.
“We expect 100 families to participate in this inter-agency program as we aim to raise public awareness on the importance of advocating for strong Filipino families,” DSWD-7 Regional Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre said.
She added that this inter-agency gathering will engage the families in friendly games, a film showing on gender and family, sharing about disciplining children without harm and sharing of meals together with other families.
On September 30, DSWD will hold a Family Day to be participated in by about 400 PantawidPamilya beneficiaries to discuss topics on family disaster preparedness, nutrition and responsible parenthood.(rmn/jsme/PIA7-Cebu/DSWD7)
