DSWD-7 Installs Adoption Help Desk

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII installed Adoption Help Desk at SM City Cebu, SM Seaside City Cebu, SM City Consolacion and Hypermarket Lapu-Lapu on February 16-17, 2019.

Assigned social workers in the help desk discussed the legal adoption process to couples and individuals who would be interested to adopt a child.

A total of 11 queries were recorded during the duration of the activity.

“I am open to the idea of adopting a child and we are considering this with my partner,” said Marloid Princess Pasaol who inquired in the Adoption Help Desk situated at the upper ground floor of SM Seaside City Cebu.

Brochures about Adoption and Foster Care were also distributed to the general public.

This effort is part of the lined-up activities of the Adoption Consciousness Week celebration.

A simultaneous awareness walk will be conducted on February 26 along the major thoroughfares in Cebu City, Tagbilaran City and Dumaguete City.

The celebration will culminate on March 4 at SM City Cebu with a song writing contest and modern dance contest to be participated in by various universities in Metro Cebu and child-caring agencies, respectively.

This year’s celebration aims to highlights the theme, “Pagmamahal Palaganapin, Legal na Pag-aampon Ating Gawin! (Spread Unconditional Love through Legal Adoption),” which reiterates the call to ensure that orphaned, neglected, abandoned, and surrendered children are provided with the secure, permanent and loving homes which they deserve.
