DSWD-7 Distributes Family Food Packs to Dumanjug, Barili

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 has distributed close to 3,000 family food packs to the towns of Barili (1,917) and Dumanjug (1,000) as of December 30 (12 noon).

Stranded passengers in Tagbilaran City Port last December 29 (Monday) were also provided with 64 family food packs and 32 blankets.

DSWD-7 is set to deliver 50 boxes of ready to eat canned food and 200 boxes of high energy biscuits to Bohol Province, which declared state of calamity last December 30.

Each box of ready to eat canned food contains 48 cans. A box of high energy biscuits has 50 packs each.

DSWD central office also sent 1000 family food packs, 1,000 pieces mosquito nets and 2,000 pieces of malong or blanket to Bohol Province via C-130 of the Philippine Air Force Wednesday (December 31).

Said items reportedly cost P1,083,320.

Meanwhile, data from the DSWD-7 disaster response operations monitoring and information center (DROMIC) recorded 93 totally damaged houses and another 62 partially damaged houses in Dumanjug due to typhoon Seniang.

Of the 93, 42 were from the town of Dumanjug, 10 from Ronda,11 from Sibonga and 30 from Guidulman, Bohol.

DSWD-7 regional director Mercedita P. Jabagat earlier disclosed that DSWD-7 is always ready to augment and distribute relief packs should the LGU request for it.

She added that DSWD-7 has enough stockpile for 30,000 family food packs and P706, 318.48 standby fund.

Family food packs usually contains 6 kilos of rice, 8 canned goods, 8 noodles and 8 coffee packs. (Phoebe Jen Indino-Pantawid Pamilya Information Officer)
