DOTr Releases License Plates on July 5
Department of Transportation (DOTr) released license plates for registered vehicles on July 2016 today.
The releasing of license plates was led by DOTr Secretary Arthur P. Tugade and LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar C. Galvante, along with Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Bong Go, House Committee on Transportation Chairman, Cong. Cesar V. Sarmiento (Catanduanes, Lone District), and Cong. Federico S. Sandoval II (Malabon, Lone District).
There is also a simultaneous Ceremonial Plate Distribution in Cebu City, led by Land Transportation Office 7 with the Office of the Presidential Assistant for Visayas. Present in the ceremony are representatives from Nissan Cebu, Mazda Cebu, Toyota Cebu, Moto Image and Autocentral Group, Honda Cebu, Mitsubishi Motors Cebu, Gateway Group, Suzuki, Global Star Motors, Auto Global, Chevrolet, Hyundai Cebu, Tata Group,Volkswagen Cebu, Isuzu, and other car dealers and distributors in Cebu.
Presidential Assistant for Visayas Michael Diño said that they have 17, 396 plates on hand for vehicles registered from July 2016 to December 2016.
Car dealers will be doing the distribution of plates to their respective customers.
On July 4, the LTO facility for plate production produced a total of 231,332 licenses that would cover July 2016 to December 2016 requirements. The operation for making plates started on April 2018.
However, vehicles registered before July 1, 2016 unfortunately will not receive their plates yet as they are in another contract and another supplier.
Meanwhile, motorcycle plates are put on hold and will wait until the bill on different-sized plates is finalized and enacted. (Aljun Cainghog)
