DOST-PNRI to Hold 44th Atomic Energy Week Celebration on December 5 – 9
The latest advancements in nuclear science and technology will be featured as the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (DOST-PNRI) will celebrate the 44th Atomic Energy Week (AEW) on Dec. 5-9 at the PNRI compound in Quezon City.
As mandated under Presidential Proclamation No. 1211 in 1973, the annual AEW is observed every second week of December to help spread awareness on the beneficial uses of nuclear science and technology.
This year’s activities will focus on the theme, “Teknolohiyang Nukleyar para sa Kaunlaran ni Juan”.
Aside from featuring the latest advancements in the fields of agriculture, industry, medicine and the environment, the PNRI will also provide guided tours and exhibits at its facilities and laboratories to students, researchers, teachers, entrepreneurs as well as the public.
Experts will give presentations during the technical sessions on the beneficial applications of nuclear science and technology on Dec. 5 and 6.
The Philippine Nuclear Youth Summit (PNYS), meanwhile, is set on Dec. 7. This will serve as a forum for the youth to share information and knowledge, and inspire high school and college students, young professionals to pursue a career in nuclear science.
Also, teams of high school students from public and private schools across the country will compete with their knowledge in nuclear science and other related topics during the national level competition of the Philippine Nuclear Science Quiz (PNSQ) for High School Students scheduled on Dec. 8 at the PNRI Auditorium.
