DOLE and RLC Plans to Bring More Jobs to Job Seekers
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) brings jobs much closer to job seekers as they partner with Robinson Malls to facilitate job fairs all around the country.
Representatives from the Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) met with DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma to discuss accrediting different Robinson Malls as future venues for DOLE job fairs in the future.
“A total of 23 Robinsons Malls have been utilized for major DOLE activities since last year, including the job fairs held in celebration of Labor Day, Independence Day, and the DOLE anniversary, as an outcome of the agreement,” DOLE said in a press release.
Secretary Laguesma welcomed the partnership’s expansion and said it will further enable the department to reach out to more workers and job seekers needing the government’s services.
Undersecretary Carmela I. Torres shared that the DOLE has conducted job fairs for specific groups and industries, including senior high school students and the semiconductor and tourism industries, as part of the department’s targeted approach to facilitating employment.
Meanwhile, RLC Vice President and Head of Operations and Marketing Joel Lumanlan highlighted the mall’s strategic locations in the provinces and its one-stop-shop of government services through its ‘Lingkod Pinoy Center’ benefit both job seekers and employers.
Secretary Laguesma said the parties can also collaborate in implementing the department’s youth employment programs—the Special Program for Employment of Students and the JobStart Philippines Program.
Lastly, the DOLE chief proposed that the partnership can also be maximized to extend to other DOLE programs, including the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) Program.
Aside from job fairs, TUPAD payouts and Kadiwa ng Pangulo can also be simultaneously held in Robinsons Malls, Laguesma said.
Also attending the meeting on May 15 at the DOLE Central Office are DOLE-Bureau of Local Employment Director Patrick P. Patriwirawan, Jr., RLC Director for External Affairs Irving Wu, and RLC Special Projects Assistant Manager Joseph James Sabio. (ASC)
