Central Visayas is now in ‘code white’ after Department of Health (DOH) 7 ordered all health facilities to address the measles outbreak in the region.

Under ‘code white’ status, hospitals, clinics and other health facilities are ready to accommodate and prioritize measles patients.

In a report from Philippine Information Agency, Dr. Shelbey Blanco of DOH said that they are making all preventive measures to contain the outbreak from affecting more people.

In the midst of the outbreak, DOH has deployed vaccination posts and measles fastlane.

Dr. Blanco also reminds the parents to vaccinate their children not only to protect them from diseases but also protect the community.

Parents are now in doubt in immunizing their children after the Dengvaxia incident that endangered the lives of the children who got immunized with the said vaccine.

As of February 11, 2019 the measles incident rose to a staggering 2317% in Central Visayas affecting 145 victims.

Measles cause complication such as pneumonia, encephalitis, diarrhea, ear infection and blindness, Dr. Blanco added. (ASC)
