Salug, Zamboanga del Norte (PNA) -– The Department of Health (DOH) has turned over to the local government 200 “buntis” kits and 30 first aid kits to boost the delivery of basic health service in this town.
Dr. Joshua Brilliantes, DOH local health support division chief, turned over the kits Wednesday to Mayor Jeffrey Lim at the sideline of the High Impact 5 (Hi-5) caravan in this town.
“We don’t know when accident will happen and especially for the poor, at least we have given them something to start with after the mother delivers their babies,” Brilliantes said after turning over the kits.
The buntis kits consist of things and toiletries for the baby and the mother while the first aid kit included thermometer, soap, bandage, antiseptic, and others.
Brilliantes said that each of the kits–buntis and first aid–is worth PHP300.
Dr. Mery Jean Bendijo, municipal health officer, who received the kits from Lim, said the buntis kits will be given to the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries after giving birth at the municipal health office.
Bendijo some of the first aid kits will be given to school nurses and to poor families in the municipality.
Meanwhile, at least 700 residents of this town have attended the DOH regional office’ Hi-5 caravan in this town.
The participants included pregnant women, parents, senior citizens, and children coming from this town’s 23 barangays.
