DOH-7 Gives Immunization to Yolanda Survivors
To stop the spread of diseases, the Department of Health (DOH) 7 has been giving immunization to areas ravaged by super typhoon Yolanda.
DOH-7 Assistant Regional Director Lakshmi Legazpi said all adults and children survivors in localities hard-hit by Yolanda last month are the target of free immunization.
Legazpi said 70 percent of their target was already accomplished, and DOH7 teams are still roaming around remote areas to reach those who have yet to receive the vaccine. This week, he said northern Cebu people are their target.
“We have accomplished already 70 percent. However, we need to cover the remaining areas because we fear there will be an outbreak of measles among children,” Legazpi revealed.
Legazpi said at least 16,000 individuals- adults and children–were already given vaccine against measles and polio. The same number of survivors also received Vitamin A from the health department, he added.
