DOH 7 Gives Free TB Medicines

To fully eradicate tuberculosis (TB) in the region, the Department of Health (DOH) 7 has outlined programs which strengthen its advocacy against the said illness in the Central Visayas.

DOH 7 Program Coordinator for Rabies and TB Control and Prevention Program Jocelyn Tabotabo said instead of just waiting for the patients to avail of the free services and medicine, their department will promote these so that those with TB can know where to get help.

Tabotabo said TB is curable, but can lead to death if not properly treated. Tabotabo added this is the common reason why there are still people who died because of TB. The main reason, she said, is because there are still those who do not know that there are free medicines at public health centers.

“If it cannot be treated within a year, ten people will be infected of tuberculosis from an untreated patient,” she said.
