DOE: Full Power Restoration in Rosita-Hit Areas by Mid-Nov
The Department of Energy (DOE) assured the public that they will prioritize the resumption of electricity in areas affected by typhoon Rosita particularly the southern part of the region.
DOE Undersecretary Felix William Fuentebella said all electric cooperatives in the heavily affected areas are now conducting massive restorations of the damaged electric poles while the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has already completed the re-energization of their transmission lines.
“We target to bring back electric power services to all typhoon-hit areas in Region 2 by November 15, 2018,” Fuentebella said.
He said there will be some electric cooperatives and other private firms in the energy sector to be deployed in southern Cagayan Valley to help the Isabela Electric Cooperatives 1 and 2, and the Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya Electric Cooperatives restore their power service lines.
“Our focus now is the immediate resumption of electricity in all affected areas. The assessment of the damages brought about by typhoon Rosita in the energy sector will later be determined,” the DOE official added.
Fuentabella, on the other hand, said that price freeze on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) products is already enforced in typhoon-hit areas.
“Consumers should report immediately any increase in the prices of LPG products especially in areas placed under state of calamity,” he added. (ALM/OTB/PIA-2 Cagayan)
