Dinagyang Festival Offers Employment Opportunities Through Job Fair
Iloilo City (PNA) — Twenty jobseekers were hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) in Wednesday’s jobs fair, one of the activities in the weeklong celebration of the Iloilo Dinagyang Festival.
The job fair spearheaded by the city government’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) was participated in by 17 local and 17 overseas recruitment agencies and eight business process outsourcing firms.
PESO manager Ma. Elena A.C. Benitez said that the 42 agencies made available thousands of jobs that are offered not only to city residents but even from those outside of the city.
Most of those HOTS were graduates of hotel and restaurant management graduates (HRM) bound abroad.
Benitez also said that it is the aim of Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog that more Ilonggos will be employed even as he would like the PESO to hold a monthly job fair.
The Dinagyang job fair is now on its fourth year and so far, the number of applicants that were placed continues to increase.
The whole day job fair continues at the Robinsons Place here. (PNA) ZST/PGLENA/CBF
