DILG: Only Cebu City Placed on ECQ, Not Whole Central Visayas

Only Cebu City is placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and not the whole region of Central Visayas on Friday, June 19, 2020, according to Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año.

This clarification comes as reports are spreading that the entirety of the Central Visayas region has been placed under ECQ.

In a radio interview with Philippine News Agency, Secretary Año said that Only Cebu City and Talisay City, which is placed under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) will be excluded from the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) that covers most areas in Central Visayas.

Central Visayas is composed of the provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor.

Cebu City and Talisay City are placed on ECQ and MECQ due to the rise of confirmed cases in their respective cities.

Año added that the community quarantine issued in both cities would help intensify the efforts of plummeting the numbers of confirmed cases in those areas.

The IATF RESOLUTION 46-A was implemented on June 15, 2020, and will take effect until June 30, 2020. From then on the government will conduct another assessment by the end of the month. (ASC)
