DILG Chief Says Arrest of Kerwin, Dayan a Way to Fast-Track Cases of Narco Pols
The arrest of drug personalities Kerwin Espinosa and Ronnie Dayan is a way to fast-track investigation of cases against politicians allegedly involved in illegal drug trade, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Ismael Sueno said on Tuesday.
“The government is focusing more on the bigwigs in the illegal drug trade. With the arrest of Kerwin and Dayan, we will be able to build a solid case against narco execs and other officials,” he added.
He lauded the Philippine National Police’s efforts for the arrest of Dayan, hoping it will shed light to a number of issues linking several high-profile personalities to illegal drugs.
“We welcome this recent turn of events and we congratulate the La Union Police Provincial Office and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) for arresting this personality,” Sueno said.
Dayan, De Lima, and seven others were earlier placed on an immigration lookout bulletin for internal monitoring.
Dayan was arrested before noon in San Juan, La Union on Tuesday upon orders of the House Committee on Justice. (PNA) SCS/AMD/EDS
