Digital TV Now in Iloilo
Iloilo City — Ilonggo households can now experience Digital TV viewing with the launching of ABS-CBN TVPlus here recently.
Glen Enginco, ABS-CBN TVPlus sales cluster head, VisMin, said Iloilo was the first city in Western Visayas to get access to digital TV.
Enginco explained that digital terrestrial television (DDT) provides a clearer picture and sound compared to analog TV.
“The ABS-CBN TVPlus sources its signal from a tower located in Guimaras. Compared to analog, the signal from the digital TV tower is not affected by the clouds or other interruptions that affect analog TV signal,” he explained.
Using digital transmission, TV viewing is crystal-clear, which is a huge distinction from the current analog system that most televisions in the country still use.
The digital TV service covers Iloilo City and the island-province of Guimaras.
Enginco said digital TV coverage also include the following areas: Ajuy, Alimodian, Anilao, Badiangan, Banate, Barotac Nuevo, Barotac Viejo, Cabatuan, Calinog, City of Passi, Concepcion, Dingle, Dueñas, Dumangas, Guimbal, Igbaras, Janiuay, Lambunao, Leganes, Leon, Maasin, Miag-ao, Mina, New Lucena, Oton, Pavia, Pototan, San Joaquin, San Miguel, Santa Barbara, Tigbauan, Tubungan, and Zarraga.
Regina Napile, product marketing head, ABS-CBN TVplus, said the network’s digital TV box was compatible to all types of TV, and the user could always switch from digital to analog if one desires.
ABS-CBN is the first media and entertainment company in the Philippines to make historic switch from analog to DDT in 2015. It is also the first network to roll out digital TV outside Metro Manila.(PNA) RMA/PGL/MADE LOS SANTOS/CBF
