Different Gov’t Agencies Celebrates Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week
Different government agencies in the country celebrated the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (DAPC) week last November 17-23, 2019.
The program dubbed as “Katarungan para sa kalusugan, Kalusugan para sa katarungan”, is a nationwide program which aims to prevent drug abuse and to strengthen the campaign against illegal drugs.
“Ang DAPC week man gud naa ni siya to raise awareness on the effects of illegal drugs (DAPC week is an observance to raise awareness on the effects of illegal drugs) and also to encourage people to join the campaign against illegal drugs,” said Leia Alcantara, Information Officer III of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Alcantara said that different government agencies like PDEA, Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Department of Education (DepEd) and more, have their own respective activities during the celebration of DAPC week.
Alcantara revealed that there were series of activities such as conducting of lecture on schools and jails, motorcade and many more.
“This is really a big celebration,” Alcantara added.
Meanwhile, PLTCOL. Maria Aurora Rayos, Information Officer, Police Regional Office-7, said that the police is consistent on the campaign against illegal drugs.
“Sa amoa sa PNP, bisag wala pa ang DAPC week kada adlaw gyud na among campagin against illegal drugs (In PNP, our campaign against illegal drugs is our utmost priority),” Rayos said. (MLC)
