Didal Places 7th in Women’s Skateboarding at Tokyo Olympics
Homegrown Skateboarding phenom Margielyn Didal finished 7th in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics Women’s Street Skateboarding event at the Ariake Skating Park in Japan on Monday.
Didal fought through an apparent ankle sprain in the skateboarding event as the Cebuana skateboarder seems to injure herself after failing to land her first trick in the event and did not look in form during the rest of the game.
Didal completed her second trick despite the injury, however she bailed on her final three tricks for the game and got a score of 7.52 points.
Not all is lost, as Margielyn further cements herself as one of the top women skateboarders in the world after improving her pre-tournament seed of 17th to 7th in the world.
13-year old Momiji Nishiya bagged the gold medal for Japan with 15.26 points after successfully nailing her final three tricks.
13-year old Rayssa Leal of Brazil took the silver medal after finishing with 14.64 points. Leal could have won the gold medal but missed her final trick.
Funa Nakayama of Japan won the bronze medal after finishing the game with 14.49 points. (GFB)
