DFA Conducts Mission in Sabah, Sarawak
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs and the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, successfully conducted its Mission to Sabah and Sarawak from 10 to 13 December 2019.
To assist and bring cheer to Filipino nationals in jail during this Christmas season, the Mission Team visited incarcerated Filipinos in death row and those in temporary detention centers while awaiting deportation. The Team also visited and then witnessed at the Sabah port the humane return to Zamboanga of about 763 Filipinos, whose immigration documents were issued and exit visas were paid for by the DFA.
In Sarawak, the Team called on Immigration Director Datu Ken Leben and his senior officers. Aside from exchanging data, the Team was also given a brief orientation on the immigration processes in Sarawak.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Embassy representative recognized the efforts of the Sarawak Immigration in its quick action on Embassy requests and expressed hopes that the on-going cordial relations with Sarawak Immigration would lead to greater efficiency in the facilitation of immigration issues affecting our fellow Filipinos.
