Development Council Requests DOH P1.2 Billion for CCMC
The Department of Health (DOH) has been requested by the Cebu City Development Council (CDC) to allocate P1.2 billion for the construction of a new and bigger Cebu City Medical Center.
The CDC had passed a resolution explaining that the P1 billion is to be used for the rebuilding of the CCMC, while the P200 million is for the infrastructure projects of the City Health Department.
Mayor Michael Rama served as the head of the CDC with all the barangay captains, the two congressmen in Cebu City, representatives from Non-Government Organizations (NGO), the chairman of the City Council’s committee on budget and finance as members.
Rama said they are hoping the requested amount be included in the 2015 budget of DOH-7 under its Health facility Enhancement Program.
The old CCMC building was severely damaged when the 7.2 Magnitude earthquake last October 15 and was declared by the structural engineers unfit for occupancy.
At present, the Cebu City government had launched a “Piso Mo, Ospital Ko” fund campaign to raise funds from the public to help in the construction of a new CCMC building.
However, the city only raised P15 million so far in its fund drive.
Rama wished that the new city hospital can accommodate 1,000 patients, unlike the old CCMC that can only accommodate 300 patients.
