DepEd-Southern Leyte Launches Limasawa First Mass Quincentennial Anniversary Logo
The Department of Education (DepEd) in Southern Leyte unveiled the Limasawa First Mass quincentennial anniversary logo on Friday, May 31.
Genis Murallos, DepEd provincial schools division superintendent, revealed the logo during the Oplan Balik Eskwela convergence meeting held at the conference room of DepEd province.
It was a fitting occasion to present the logo as representatives of other agencies with programs and projects related to the workings of education and learning were present, such as the DILG, DSWD, DOH, DTI, SOLECO, PNP, BFP, DPWH, Arescom, and PAGASA.
The logo features a flame encircling a large cross protruding in an island, whose base was shaped like a boat, with three persons representing the native people rejoicing on the right side.
Murallos said he had asked permission to go ahead with the logo launching even as the provincial government and the Diocese of Maasin were contemplating of having it on November 17 yet following a contest, to start also the 500 days countdown.
“Fire consumes but not without giving back light and warmth. The fire also means enlightenment of the people,” Murallos said by way of explaining details of the symbol.
“The flame colors — blue, red, and yellow — pay homage to the Philippine flag,” he said.
“To DepEd, it is symbolic of the teachers who, just like candles, consume themselves to light the way for others,” Murallos intoned, to loud applause of the mentors and visitors. (LDL/MMP/PIA-8, Southern Leyte)
