DepEd Maintains ‘No-Collection Policy’
The Department of Education (DepEd) 7 spokesperson Clara Falcone clarified that the no-collection policy is still in effect in all public schools.
Falcone’s clarification came after it was reported that there are teachers who allegedly withhold the report cards of their students, who still have backpays from the previous school year.
“They can’t do that. There may be other fees but these are not compulsory,” said Falcone.
She also said that fees like those for the tanod, Girl/Boy Scout, among others, should be decided by the Parents-Teachers Association, but still, the school has no right to
deprive the child, who has not paid any of it, the right to be enrolled. Falcone said if it is happening, as reported, she advised parents to report the matter to their nearest DepEd office.
