DepEd Aims Nationwide Implementation of Face-to-Face Classes Next School Year
The Department of Education (DepEd) said on Monday that the country is now ready for the nationwide implementation of face-to-face classes.
This comes as Education Secretary Leonor Briones said at a Laging Handa Public briefing that around 73 percent of public schools are already qualified to resume face-to-face classes.
Briones also said that DepEd is expecting a “100 percent” implementation of in-person classes nationwide.
“In the next academic school year, we’re expecting that the face-to-face implementation will be fully 100 percent,” Briones said.
However, the education chief also added that the modalities may still vary which depends on local governments.
Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio further emphasized the plan of DepEd, saying that they are looking to implement a “blended” setup, where there will be days for face-to-face classes, and days for home-based education for children.
34,238 schools have been nominated by DepEd to resume face-to-face classes as of May 26.
Of the 34,238, 33,000 of which are public schools, while private schools make up the remaining 1,174 nominated schools. (GFB)
