DENR Urged Candidates to Remove Campaign Materials
With the elections already days away, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 7 urged all the candidates of last Monday’s election to remove all their posters and tarpaulins in public places.
DENR 7 Regional Executive Director, Isabelo Montejo said if these will not be removed, this will clogged the waterways thereby “causing flood” during rainy days. Thus, he said losers and winners should start removing these wastes, being mandatory under the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, which also provides penalty for violators.
“These wastes like tarpaulins could still be recycled and instead of throwing them away, they can still be used for some other purposes or turn them over to recyclable shops for a fee,” Montejo said.
