Demand for IT Jobs Continue to Rise During Pandemic

Digitalization was already a trend in businesses but was further fast-tracked due to the COVID-19 pandemic that forced businesses to quickly adapt to the digital medium. The increased need for online transactions rose exponentially as it has been proven effective during this time of strict health safety protocols.

The implemented lockdowns in the country hampered face-to-face business transactions. Now, consumers rely on online and cashless transactions and more people use delivery services to get their products delivered straight to their homes.

Dr. Amable R. Aguiluz V, Founder and Chairman of AMA Education System (AMAES) said businesses have to quickly adapt to this new environment to stay competitive and survive the pandemic.

“Presence in the digital space increases the chances of businesses to stay competitive and even surviving in this climate. Planning towards this is integral to future-proofing,” Aguiluz said.

According to Linkedin, even before the pandemic, 7 out of 10 emerging jobs in the Philippines require IT-based expertise. More companies were reported to be hiring for IT-based experts such as Cyber Security Specialists, Data Scientists, Full Stack Engineers, Dev Ops Engineers, Data Engineers, JavaScript Developers, and Cloud Engineers.

With the continued increase in demand for IT-based jobs in the country, various IT institutions such as Dr. Aguiluz’s AMAES will have to take on the challenge to produce more IT experts in the future.

Senior High School graduates who are still indecisive on where to enroll and what college programs will they be taking, Dr. Aguiluz is advising both parents and students to consider taking an IT-based program.

“With the increased need for the right talent of companies shifting towards digital operations, it’s important to map out career prospects for students and career shifters. Taking an IT-based program sets one up for various jobs that will be in demand and lucrative for years to come,” said Dr. Aguiluz.

Even in the event of the pandemic, the AMAES network continues to offer educational continuity through 100% online classes for IT-based and other courses offered by AMAES.

AMAES follows a trimestral school year giving the students a chance to graduate faster. The school network is also currently offering a P10,000 tuition fee per trimester.

Students who are interested to take IT-based courses through this 100% online learning offering, will need to pre-register through the AMA Education System website, www.amaes.edu.ph.
