Tokyo (PNA/Sputnik) — Seven people died due to heavy rain and flooding in Japan last week, the National Police Agency said Monday.
Previous reports stated that three people had died and 26 had gone missing due to the flood.
Seven people died in three prefectures, namely Ibaraki, Tochigi and Miyagi. Some 42 people were injured in 10 prefectures hit by torrential rains over the last week.
Earlier in the week, emergency warnings for heavy rainfall were issued for Miyagi, Tochigi and Ibaraki prefectures as the Etau storm continued to threaten the country with landslides and flooding.
Etau was declared post-tropical on Wednesday, however the storm continued to bring heavy rain in Japan on Thursday. (PNA/Sputnik) JBP/SSC
