De Lima Warns Vs Hired Gunmen Entering PH
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has been ordered to stay on alert status as hired killers, allegedly sent to silence arrested Canadian nationals, are trying to enter the country said Justice Secretary Leila De Lima.
De Lima said these assassins cannot enter the country if they will use the usual ports. She admitted, however, that assassins could try to enter Philippines on illegal means.
“Kung mag-backdoor sila, mahihirapan tayo,” De lima said.
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Virgilio Mendez reportedly said counterparts in Canada, the US, and Australia told them about the assassins. Mendez said they “personally came here just to warn us that the threat is serious.”
Reports said the recent arrests of foreign drug suspects have paved the way for authorities to learn international narcotics’ operation. It was learned that drug syndicate is currently seeking to introduce a new party drug named “crackling” into the Philippines. It added syndicate also wants to turn the country into a regional hub for the new drug.
Last week, NBI agents seized cracklings during a raid on suspected members of a Canadian drug syndicate. NBI Deputy Director Ruel Lasala said the bureau’s chemistry division is still studying the composition of the new party drug.
An NBI chemist said the drug causes euphoria and can cause damage to the central nervous system.
Lasala said NBI operatives are also checking whether the drug has hit the local market.
Crackling is reportedly made by using a kind of wax, and comes with varied flavors like cherry and rootbeer.
The new drug is reportedly a combination of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) and cocaine, and is two to three times more potent.
