DBE Gives Scholarship to Children in Remembrance of Their Firefighter Parents
Seoul, South Korea — DBE, the leading fire company under Tyco, recently held the 9th Scholarship Ceremony for the children of firefighters who died or were injured on duty. DBE donated 30 million Won in scholarships to help 16 children selected by the National Emergency Management Agency and local fire departments.
It is the 9th year that DBE works on the Scholarship Program together with the National Emergency Management Agency in association with the Korea Fire Officials Credit Union. To date, the program has helped 125 students with a total donation of 202 million won.
Benny Goh, Tyco Asia President, Sangho Byun, CEO of Korea Fire Officials Credit Union, and Lee Hyung-chul, Director of National Emergency Management Agency, attended the ceremony.
Commenting on the CSR initiative, Benny Goh said, “In Tyco we have a long history of philanthropic giving and community involvement. DBE donated the scholarship to assist the children of fire fighters who have perished or been injured in the course of duty. We want to recognize the sacrifice of these fire fighters, and we want these children to stand tall and proud of the deeds their fathers have done. DBE will continue to support this effort to help the families and children of these fallen comrades.”
HyungCheol Lee, Manager of the Policy Department, the National Emergency Management Agency, added, “As fire officials have sincerely devoted themselves to citizens by rendering service at disasters and fire scenes, it is very grateful for an enterprise to support them in their dedication. We will also continuously try to improve the treatment and working conditions of fire officials, remembering that improving the treatment of firemen and securing their safety leads to the safety of all.”
