Day-to-night makeup tips
That makeup routine you rock during the day just isn’t going to have the same effect once the sun goes down. Your nighttime look should be an amped-up version of your daytime makeup. The trick is to add more without looking overdone. To pull off a great night look you’ll need to kick it up a notch.
CLEAN UP
The first step in going from day makeup to night makeup is to clean up the damage to your look you’ve done throughout the day. Use oil blotting sheets to remove any oils that may have built up over the day. Wipe away any eye makeup that may have smeared, and touch up your foundation and concealer if it’s needed.
EYES
Use a darker shade of your daytime eye shadow to enhance your eyes to achieve that sultry nightime look. Apply eyeliner to your top lash, and use liquid eyeliner if you want to add a little more. Avoid adding more mascara, since adding new mascara on top of old usually results in clumps.
SKIN
You don’t need as much blush at night as you do during the day. If you do touch up your blush, don’t add much more than you started with.
A little bit of sparkle will also be a nice touch to your nightime look. Use a shimmer powder to highlight your cheekbones, chin, forehead and neck.
LIPS
To take your pout from day to night, apply a lip color that’s a few shades darker than your natural lip color. Top it off with a high-shine lip gloss to add more oomph to the look. Also, be careful not to overdo it on your lips since you’re heavy on the eyes. If you want to use an especially dark or bright lip color, add less eye shadow. Highlighting both might make you look like a clown. It’s great to stand out but always remember to keep things classy.
