Davide Wants Updates on Oil Exploration
Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III said he wants to be constantly updated with regard to the on-going oil exploration in Aloguinsan, Cebu.
The governor said it was only recently when he learned that the oil drilling started in October last year. He said he has to be informed so that he could also consult the stakeholders.
“There’s got to be consultation with other stakeholders, di lang sa business side. Tan-awon gyud na all aspects, mao nang magpa-brief gyud ko,” he said.
The governor, who was visited by Energy Undersecretary Ramon Allan Oca on Tuesday, said it is still a long shot to call the oil in Aloguinsan commercially viable as the people behind this project are still doing more exploration.
Oca also said that they visited Cebu to find out if the oil find is commercial.
“because right now we don’t know if it is really commercial,”
he said.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has earlier told the public to hold its horses as Gas2Grid Ltd., the firm behind the discovery, is still doing the first stage of the exploration.
The Energy department has, however, approved Malolos-1 under service contract as an oil discovery.
