Davide Wants PB to Hear Garcia’s MR
Before he will issue his decision over Dumanjug Mayor Nelso Garcia’s suspension, Gov. Hilario Davide III said he would wait the Provincial Board (PB) to act on the mayor’s motion for reconsideration (MR) first.
“I was furnished a copy of the MR of Garcia and I have to take a look at it. It was addressed to PB, and mas maayo ma-resolve sa board ang MR,” Davide said.
Davide, however, said if the board would turn down Garcia’s motion, he would decide “objectively” if he would heed to its recommendation to suspend the mayor or not. Garcia is brother of former Gov. Gwen Garcia, Davide’s known political rival.
During its regular session last week, the PB approved a resolution adopting the recommendation of the investigation committee to suspend Garcia for 60 days for alleged abuse of power and usurpation.
The board alleged that Garcia violated Section 456 of the Local Government Code when he designated Emmilou Cabonillas as acting town council secretary last year when it was supposed to be Vice Mayor Efren Gica’s function as the position is under his department.
