Davide Urges Public to Register Early
Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III urged those who are qualified to vote to register at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) this early to avoid long queues.
“I urge everybody nga gusto gyud mo participate in the elections to register early. I encourage these voters especially katong bag-o lang ni-18 (to go to the Comelec and register),” said Davide.
Davide said the public usually troops to Comelec offices on the last day of the registration itself thereby resulting to very long lines.
“I hope people will realize nga hasul kung ila pang paabuton (ang deadline),” he said.
The Comelec has already set the deadline of the registration on October 31, 2015.
Meanwhile, Comelec-Cebu Provincial Officer Atty. Ferdinand Gujilde made it clear that there is no such thing as “flying voters.” He also said that the registration does not guarantee the person yet that he is already a qualified voter and can already cast his vote in the elections, as the application to become a registered voter has to be validated by the Election Registration Board.
