Davide to Visit Upland Towns this Week
Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III is scheduled to visit the upland towns which have problems with water within this week.
The purpose of the visit is to check what the province can do to help the towns of Tabuelan, Balambam and others which have been plagued with lack of water after super typhoon Yolanda hit Visayas in November last year.
“We already sent engineers to these areas to study the situation. But this week I’m going there too. I already promised the mayors that,” said the governor.
Davide said there is a plan to repair the water system of Tabuelan that will serve at least nine barangays there. There used to be an old water system in the said town but was destroyed by Yolanda.
For the moment, the town distributes water to the barangay residents using a firetruck. At least 1,000 families in Tabuelan are reportedly suffering from lack of water source.
Meanwhile, Davide said he has also talked with Balambam officials to discuss them with their problem on animal deaths, crop destruction due to the very cold weather.
The governor said the Capitol is already sending help to these upland towns.
