Davide To Barangay Workers: You’re Heroes
The invaluable work of frontline personnel would never be left unnoticed from the eyes of the Cebu Provincial Government.
Barangay workers were all smiles last Tuesday as they received a cash incentive from the Capitol as gesture of gratitude for their unselfish service to the community.
No less than Gov. Hilario P. Davide III spearheaded the annual cash incentive distribution, which was attended by Borbon Mayor Bernard Sepulveda and some members of the municipal council.
Also present in the event were fifth district board members Jude Durano-Sybico and Miguel Magpale.
Davide lauded the invaluable contributions of barangay workers, as they are the personnel to whom ordinary people would first go to if they needed help or something.
“I consider you heroes to your barangay. You are at the frontline in providing services to the people. Your sacrifices and contributions to public service are awe-inspiring,” Davide said.
At least 450 workers from the town’s 19 different barangays swarmed the sports complex to get their incentive. These include day care and health personnel, nutritionists, tanods and animal health aid workers.
Health and day care personnel as well as nutritionists received P2,400 each while tanods and animal health workers got P1,500 respectively.
The luckiest among the recipients last Tuesday were the eight farmers who received funding from the cattle and cow disbursement program.
A farmer beneficiary is entitled to P20,000 if he buys a carabao and P15,000 for cattle.
Farmer Jesus Malang one of the beneficiaries was so elated by the Capitol’s monetary endowment, which he will use to purchase a carabao.
“Dako kaayo akong kalipay nga nakaabot na sa barangay kani na programa. Dako kaayo ning tabang namo na mga pobre na mag uuma,” said the 44-year-old Malang from barangay Don Gregoria Antigua.
In Catmon town, at least 304 barangay workers also received similar incentive.
Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale joined Gov. Davide to oversee the cash distribution at the town’s sports complex.
Municipal officials Mayor Dan Jusay and Vice Mayor Iris Gestopa, with their town councilors, were also present to grace the affair.
Magpale took the opportunity to thank barangay workers in their exemplary service to their community.
“Gusto namong ipaabot ninyo ang among kinasingkasing na pasalamat sa inyong serbisyo. Nasayod mi na dako kaayo mog natabang sa barangay,” Magpale said.
The Vice Gov. praised Jusay for enumerating the projects of Davide in Catmon town, debunking the governor’s critics that he did nothing for the province under his administration.
