Davide, Sports Execs Break Ground on Capitol’s P20-M Sport Complex Project
This one is for the athletes.
Gov. Hilario P. Davide III, together with other Capitol and sports officials, led the groundbreaking ceremony of the Cebu Provincial Sports Complex in Sitio Sudlon, Barangay Lahug in Cebu City on Friday, Oct. 19.
The Cebu Provincial Government, through the Provincial Engineering Office, implemented the construction of the
P19.96 million worth sports facility.
During the activity, the governor was joined by Philippine Sports Commissioner (PSC) Ramon Fernandez, Cebu
Provincial Sports Commission (CPSC) Executive Director Ramil Abing, Provincial Engineer Hector Jamora, Department of Education Sports coordinator Nenita Jaralve, and Pragmatic Development and Construction Corp. (PDCC) representative Roby Tanjuatao.
PDCC is the contractor of the project, which is set to be completed in March 2019.
In his speech, Davide said the provincial athletes could train at the sports complex once the construction is completed.
“Ato ning pahinungod sa mga athletes nato ug mga Sugbuanon nga mga atleta. I really feel nga we need a place
for them, a facility nga dako. Ari sila maka-train, ari sila makadula, magamit pa gyud sa Provincial Government
kaning atong annual nga sportsfest,” he said.
The governor said this could also generate income if there are private entities that would like to use the complex for their sports event or other activities.
“We can let them use this for a fee. Mahimo pud ni nga income generating. Atty. Abing, paabangan nato ni kung
dunay gusto mogamit. Kita ko sa drawing nindot kaayo ang design. Hopefully, mahuman gyud ni karong marso,” said Davide.
“We look forward really to the completion of this huge project and I’m sure daghan pud malipay tingali nga mga
kaigsuonan nato sa mga kalungsuran nga dunay mga dagko nga kalihukan ari diri, sportsfest sa Provincial Capitol
ug daghan pa gyud kaayo,” he added.
The governor expressed that he was honored by the attendance of the PSC.
In response, Fernandez said that he was very happy that the athletes now have another venue where they can train more to join several sports events.
“I’m very happy, of course, sa ngan sa mga atleta. Bilang usa ka atleta sa karaang panahon nalipay ko para sa mga atleta sa probinsya nga finally they have a place to call home. I’m sure in the coming years you’ve been improving in your standing in the different tournaments in meets. I’m sure dire-diretso nana… Congratulations and thank you for your leadership Governor Junjun,” he said.
For his part, Abing thanked the unwavering the support of the governor to the CPSC.
