Davide, Magpale Satisfied with CSBT’s Holy Week Preps
Cebu Gov. Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes A. Magpale visited the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) to check the situation of the facility in time for the Holy Week rush.
Davide and Magpale were joined by CSBT operations manager Jonathan Tumulak who gave them updates on the measures implemented at the terminal in anticipation of the influx of passengers starting today, Holy Wednesday.
There are at least 300 buses and mini-buses that will transport commuters to their destinations on Holy Wednesday and Maundy Thursday, said Tumulak.
He said another 25 buses were provided by various local government units (LGUs) as augmentation.
Among of the LGUs that sent their buses to CSBT were the City of Naga, Dumanjug, Oslob, Minglanilla and Carcar City.
CSBT will be operating 24 hours to cater those passengers who will travel immediately after work today.
Police personnel from the Cebu Provincial Police Office and K9 dogs of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency were positioned within the facility to ensure everyone’s safety.
“Naay PNP sud sa terminal unya naa pud tay PNP naa sa gawas nga maoy magbantay sa linya,” he said.
In a press conference, Magpale expressed her appreciation to the CSBT management for their preparations.
The vice governor noticed that the surroundings and the comfort rooms were clean.
“I think the government has done its best to ensure the safety of the passengers. They should also do their part, like the commuters, di ingon magpabaya sila sa gamit just because naay PNP,” she said.
Since CSBT will have more passengers, Davide said chairs were already placed so they can sit comfortably while waiting for their transportation.
“We want everybody to get to their destinations safely,” the governor added. (Cebu Provincial Govt.)
